Positive Vibes Only

“When things in your life aren’t adding up, it’s time to start subtracting.”

Just too true, isn’t it?  Lately it seems as if I’m in serious need of taking this advice. I know I can’t change other people’s mindset, but I can change mine.  I want to get back to a time when I had more peace in my life. I’ve let a lot of negative get to me and I really dislike how I let it affect me so much.

I’m detoxifying my life, cleansing my surroundings, and letting go. I want to not only recognize the bright side of every situation, but also generate peace and positivity.

Most of the time I feel pretty happy and at peace, but there’s always those few times when I let someone else’s actions or words get to me.  Someone will cut me off or tail gate me or cut in front of me in line or give me dirty, impatient looks when I’m trying to read a label to find out how much sugar there is. While I’m really tired of these things happening, I’m even more frustrated with how it makes me feel. Sure, it’s appropriate to voice my opinions and defend myself when the time calls for it, but you gotta pick your battles.

There is no more room in my life for things or people that bring me down.

I believe that being completely healthy means much more than being physically fit.

I’m ready to let in all the beauty and peace this world has to offer.

There will always be reasons to sad or angry.

There will always be something to complain about.

HOWEVER, the same is true about what lies on the other end of the spectrum.

There will be more reasons to smile, laugh, give thanks, and love.

What are you waiting for?

Spread the love!

So You Want a Better Body

It’s probably the number one topic some of you so graciously ask me about.

I narrowed down the 5 most important steps in order for you to achieve your goal!

Number one: HYDRATE! I’ve already dedicated an entire post to this, so I’ll just highlight the key points.

  • Drink 1-2 glasses as soon as you wake up every morning before you eat or drink anything else.
  • The goal for the day is 1 gallon.
  • If you’re constantly peeing throughout the day, you’re doing it right.
  • Eliminates toxins and bloating.
  • Try adding lemon or other fresh fruits for added benefits.

Number two: NUTRITION!

  • Eat a balanced meal, a protein, complex carb, and healthy fats at every meal.
  • Pay attention to portions.
  • Vegetables are a must at most of your meals. Typically, I have fruit for breakfast and veggies for lunch & dinner.
  • Speaking of breakfast, I eat after I’ve finished two glasses of water and aim for a 500 calorie breakfast that is protein-dense.
  • Don’t go more than 4 hours without eating. You want a healthy metabolism. Eating every 2-3 hours keeps your metabolism in check and your body acknowledges that it doesn’t have to worry about food and thus won’t go into starvation/preservation mode.
  • Avoid processed foods, excess sugar & salt.
  • Eat after exercise.

Number three: EXERCISE!

  • Lift heavy. You and I both know you can handle a dumb bell bigger than 10 pounds, for most exercises anyway. If you’re sweating while lifting, you’re doing it right.
  • Try cross-training for optimal results. Lift weights and THEN do cardio. This method puts your body in the fat burning zone first while also warming up your muscles for cardio to burn more calories.
  • Work out most days, but not every day as your body needs time to rest and recover. 4-6 days on, 1-3 days off.
  • Make time for it. A short workout is better than nothing at all!

Number four: PATIENCE, PERSISTENCE, & POSITIVITY! The three P’s.

  • Patience because you won’t necessarily see those results as soon as you’d like, but take special notice to how you feel. This benefit can’t and shouldn’t be ignored, ever. It’s going to take time. Don’t put yourself down. Think baby steps.
  • Persistence is so important. You can’t give up because you think it isn’t working. That will get you absolutely nowhere! And all the work you’ve done up until that point will have been for nothing! Just keep going. If you always quit, then how will you really know?? Try sticking with it for a change and see what happens. There is absolutely no way you won’t see or notice results after a few months of really sticking with it. It’s just impossible. Yes, I said it, impossible.
  • Positivity because negative thoughts can actually hinder your progress. So maybe you didn’t have a scale victory, so what. Big whoop. That happens to me ALL the time. Then, I’ll go to the gym to get my mind right and notice that I just curled a 40 pound barbell for 4 sets of 8 reps! Or I ran my best mile yet. That’s what I’m talkin about! Stronger and faster baby, can’t get mad about that!

Number five: SLEEP!

  • 8 hours is the magical number.
  • You burn most of your calories while you’re snoozing, isn’t that crazy?
  • Your body undergoes some serious repairs while you slumber, so if you aren’t getting enough sleep, then your body isn’t functioning at its prime. It may still be beat from the previous day and you won’t perform at your best whether its school, work, or in the gym.

And that’s basically all there is to it. I wish you all the best on your fitness endeavors!

Until next time Fit Girls!
